Disney Plus is about to get a lot more exciting. The streaming service has issued an order for a 10-episode series for a sequel to “The Mighty Ducks.”
Lauren Graham, known for her role in “Gilmore Girls,” is set to star in the series as Alex. Brady Noon, best known for “Good Girls,” is set to play her son Evan.
Graham will also serve as the co-executive producer of the series.
The sequel will be based on the 90’s classic, which included three films and one series.
The updated series will be set in Minnesota and will follow 12-year-old Evan after he is cut from the hockey team, which leads him and his mother to create their own team.⠀⠀⠀
Steve Brill, creator of the original series, will be working as co-creator and executive producer of the sequel. Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yupsa will also be co-creators and showrunners.
Production for the series is set to begin in the upcoming weeks in Vancouver and will premiere in late 2020.
