Mike Tyson is arguably one of the greatest boxers in history. But who would’ve known that Mike used sex as an outlet to not murder his opponents?
Rudy Gonzales, Tyson’s former bodyguard, sat for an interview with The Sun where he recalled Mike’s pre-fight ritual. During the interview, Gonzales said the boxer had to “loosen up” before his matches because he was afraid his adrenaline would kill his opponent.
“One of the greatest secrets with Mike was that he needed to have sex in the dressing room before fights. He had to get laid to disengage some of the strength he had. So I had girls tucked away in bathrooms and changing rooms. Mike would say, ‘If I do not get laid, I will kill this guy right now.’ Sometimes he’d go in with them [the women] for a minute, bang the sh*t out of them, snap his neck and say: ‘OK, this guy is going to live tonight,'”Gonzales says.
Many may think this is an odd strategy to use but for Tyson, sex was a way to control his anxiety. Mike suffered from extreme anxiety and sometimes cried because of his fear of failure. According to Gonzales, Mike did not want to risk getting locked up or going back to his old neighborhood.
“He had an anxiety problem where he would be in despair with anxiety of not feeling good enough or not wanting to screw it up…Mike had the fear that if he screwed this up, he would end up back in his old neighborhood or be locked up,” says Gonzales.
Mike Tyson has yet to confirm or deny the allegations but this does make you wonder about other boxers’ pre-fight rituals?
