The boxing world is getting a matchup that many thought was impossible.
Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have reportedly locked in a tentative date of April 25, 2026, for their high-profile exhibition in the Democratic Republic of Congo. After months of rumors and very few details, the location brings a historic feel to the event, as it’s the same country where the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle” took place decades ago, the iconic 1974 heavyweight boxing match in Kinshasa, Zaire, where Muhammad Ali defeated George Foreman.
This will be the first time both icons have stepped back into the ring since their most recent exhibition runs. Floyd Mayweather’s last appearance was in August 2024 against John Gotti III, a fight that ended in a chaotic no-decision. Meanwhile, Tyson is coming off a November loss to Jake Paul by unanimous decision.
Despite the difference in their natural weight classes, the interest in seeing these two legends share a ring is massive. For Mayweather, the exhibition is another chance to show why he retired with a perfect 50-0 professional record. Back in September, the undefeated star released a statement making it clear that his reputation is as solid as ever.
“I’ve been doing this for 30 years, and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” he said. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”
With the fight moving to the Congo, it seems both men are ready to turn this idea into one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
