NBA star Miles Bridges has allegedly tried assaulting his ex-girlfriend in a disturbing new incident.
The Charlotte Hornets star was issued a criminal court summons on Wednesday after he tossed billiard balls, commonly seen on pool tables, at the car of Mychelle Johnson during a custody exchange. They share two children together. However, a protective order was in place from a domestic violence incident from last year, where he choked her unconscious. It seems that even under the terms, they’ve still been allowed to conduct the exchanges. For unknown reasons, an argument occurred during the October 6th meeting, resulting in Bridges breaking Johnson’s windshield with the balls and threatening to harm her. His children were in the car when one of the balls crashed through the windshield. Luckily, they were unharmed. For this, he is being accused of child abuse.
Their children have been present for other acts of violence. During last year’s choking incident, Johnson and Bridges’ son tried to stop his father but was knocked to the floor. Bridges also broke Johnson’s nose during that outburst. He ultimately pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge and was ordered to serve 100 hours of community service, three years of probation, domestic violence counseling, and parenting courses. As part of that agreement, Johnson was also granted a 10-year protective order. The NBA decided he must sit out 30 games, which saw him benched all last season. Bridges has recently signed a $7.9 million for the 2023-24 season, though it’s unclear how this latest run-in with the law will affect his return to the court.
In addition to this new legal trouble, there was also an outstanding warrant from January accusing Bridges of violating the protective order. He has not commented publicly on the matter.
