The legacy of #Prince is one that will never be forgotten and one middle school in Minneapolis is making sure of that by dedicating a music room to his accomplishments.
Anwatin Middle School located in #Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis, Mn. has decided to carry on Prince’s name by dedicating a “music room” to the late musician.
Thanks to Prince’s ex-wife, Manuela Testolini, and his friend, Andre Cymone, the two were able to raise enough money through the In A Perfect World Foundation to build the room. The music room’s teacher, Edward Barlow, also played a key role in receiving the funding for the program and helped design the room. The music room will be decked out with several musical instruments including, guitars, keyboards and more.

“He wanted to impact the community and he did for so long. We don’t want there to be a hole in that space,” Testolini said. “We want to make sure that is continuing as much as Andre said, as much as the music is continued, the impact has to continue and he was an activist, he was a revolutionary, he was a philanthropist. We want to make sure that is elevated and kept at the front.”

The school is reflective of Prince’s upbringing as he grew up nearby the school as a child. Cymone says she feels the heartfelt deed is making him smile in heaven. “I mean, it’s great to go play his music and to do all of that and that’s wonderful and it’s a beautiful thing for his musical legacy, but I think the extension to that is to give back to kids,” he said.
