A shooting in downtown Minneapolis Saturday has left two men dead and eight others injured.
CNN reports that one of the injured parties was transported to a hospital and is listed in critical condition. Seven other victims were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.
Authorities believe the shooting was the culmination of a verbal altercation that escalated—the two people arguing pulled out guns and began shooting at one another.
Officers who were patrolling in the area heard the gunshots and ran toward North 1st Avenue. They arrived at a chaotic scene, and two men had already died from their injuries. Of the 10 victims, five were male, and five were female. The names of the victims and their official causes of death will be released in the coming days.
The shooting is currently under investigation, and police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area. Officers are also working to interview witnesses.
