A Minnesota woman allegedly drowned herself and her three children after her husband died by suicide.
On July 1st, authorities were notified by 23-year-old Molly Cheng that her husband, 27-year-old Yee Lee, fatally shot himself. Officers then made arrangements for Cheng and her children for regional social workers to assist the woman and her three children.
However, later that day, one of Cheng’s family members contacted local authorities saying that Molly “was going to kill her children and herself.” Police were able to track Cheng’s phone and discovered an empty vehicle belonging to the family.
That same evening, four-year-old Quadrillion T. Lee, was recovered from the lake. They also found the bodies of five-year-old Phoenix Lee and three-year-old Estella Zoo Siab Lee. All three children’s death was ruled a homicide. Cheng’s body was recovered from the lake, and police labeled it a suicide.
“Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and community impacted by this terrible tragedy,” Undersheriff Mike Martin says. “The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the circumstances of this incident to provide clarity and closure to the surviving family members.”
