Tensions ran high during a Miss Universe pre-pageant event in Thailand when several contestants appeared to walk out in defense of Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch, after a public confrontation with pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil.

In a Facebook Live video from the event, Itsaragrisil scolded the women, insisting they promote the host country. Turning his attention to Bosch, he accused her of refusing a photo shoot and claimed she wasn’t posting content on her director’s orders.
“Be careful. You are in Thailand. You are in a game,” he warned, before calling her a “dummy.”
Bosch stood up to defend herself, but was quickly interrupted. “Because I have a voice,” she firmly stated. “You are not respecting me as a woman.”
He asked why she remained standing, but Bosch was not done making her point. Itsaragrisil called for security, sparking visible protest from the other contestants. Bosch exited while saying, “As women, you need to show respect for us.”
Miss Universe later released a statement reaffirming its commitment to “respect, safety, and integrity” and confirmed the show would go on as planned. The organization stated that its Chief Executive Officer, Mario Bucaro, will travel to Thailand to “strengthen collaboration” with the country.
