Authorities have identified the woman who jumped from a Midtown high-rise Sunday as former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst.
Kryst was the 2019 pageant winner and a 30-year-old lawyer. She also spent time as a correspondent on Extra.
Authorities believe she jumped from the 60-story Orion building located at 350 W. 42nd St. around 7:15 a.m.
She was found dead on the street below, the New York Post reported.
“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie,” the former beauty queen’s family said in a statement Sunday.
“Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.
“Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on EXTRA,” her family said. “But most importantly as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and colleague — we know her impact will live on.”
Kryst lived on the ninth floor of the building and was last seen on a 29th-floor terrace, sources said.
Just a few hours before her death, Cheslie posted a photo of herself on her Instagram with the caption that read, “May this day bring you rest and peace.”
TMZ reported that the former Miss USA winner reportedly left a note stating she was leaving all her belongings to her mother.
