Prosecutors stated Thursday night that Jashyah Moore, a 14-year-old girl from East Orange, NJ, who had been missing for over a month, was located safe in New York City.
“Jashyah is currently safe and is being provided all appropriate services. She will be returned to NJ shortly,” said the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Moore vanished on Oct. 15 after leaving her home to look for a money card she had misplaced on her way to Poppies Deli.
East Orange police worked with officers from Orange, the Essex County sheriff’s and prosecutor’s offices, the New Jersey State Police, and the FBI after weeks of searching.
