A Missouri high school has broken with tradition and crowned its first male student as Homecoming Queen during the school’s homecoming game. Student Zachary Willmore made history at Rock Bridge High School.
“It was literally like a dream,” Wilmore said to KOMU 8. “It was just really special to me.”
Willmore, also a varsity cheerleader for the school, posted a video from the event to his TikTok. He can be seen wearing a beautiful gold dress with a homecoming sash.

He said he decided to run after posting a poll on social media, asking his followers if he should try to run for king or queen. Based on the results, he chose queen.
“They thought queen could look prettier on the sash,” Willmore told the outlet.
Willmore says that while he received a lot of love on social media, not everyone had kind things to say.
“Online, I did get some hate. After I won, my TikTok account was reported and banned for a couple days,” Willmore said.
Willmore has gained quite a following, boasting more than a million followers on TikTok by sharing videos of his outfits. He says that some of what he wears earned him dress code violations at school.
He is now working with other students to get the school to update its dress code policy. A spokesperson for the school said the district is hoping to issue a revised dress code before the school year ends.
