Rapper Missy Elliot is the next celebrity artist to be honored with a star on the Hollywood walk of Fame.
With her star being installed in front of Amoeba Records on Nov. 8, Missy will be the 2,708th star.
Missy’s longtime manager Mona Scott-Young, and singers Ciara and Lizzo will be there to assist in the unveiling of her star.
Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame Producer, said, “Missy Elliott has broken through the barriers of the male-dominated Hip Hop world, and music industry as a whole, as she has led the way for many women who have followed in her footsteps. She continues to break barriers year after year and we’re thrilled to be able to honor her on the Walk of Fame.”
Elliott has a long and successful career that includes five Grammy Awards, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award from the MTV Video Music Awards in 2019. She is also the first female rapper and third-ever rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Six of her studio albums have been certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America. She holds an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music.
The ceremony will be live-streamed on Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m. PT for those who cannot attend the unveiling in person.
