Missy Elliott now has the most platinum records out of all female rappers.
When it comes to being iconic, Missy Elliott is a trailblazer. This week, Chart Data announced all of Elliott’s albums are certified platinum or higher, making her officially the female rapper with the most platinum records.
According to Hypebeast, Elliott’s 2005 record and album The Cookbook sold more than one million units by the end of January. In celebration, Elliott took to Twitter to speak on the major feat.
“This is a HUGE MILESTONE!No matter how long it took to get here I am here & I AM HUMBLYGRATEFULTo all my SISTERS in HIPHOP yall keep doing yall thang & SHINING,” the musician tweeted.
Her six consecutive platinum studio albums include Supa Dupa Fly (1997), Da Real World (1999), Miss E…So Addictive (2001), Under Construction (2002), This Is Not A Test (2003) and The Cookbook (2005).
