Authorities say a Florida mother went to a nightclub for more than an hour while her toddler slept on the curb, and her other two children were left at home alone.
On Saturday, Shyla Heidelberg, 25, was arrested when one of her children, a 3-year-old, was spotted sleeping on a sidewalk outside her Fort Walton Beach apartment complex at 1 a.m. wrapped in a blanket.
WKRG reported that Heidelberg’s two other small children were found asleep and alone inside a unit at the Choctaw Village Apartments, where a security officer had seen the 3-year-old sleeping outside.

According to police, Heidelberg was arrested as soon as she returned home. She admitted to the police that she had “gone out to a nightclub” approximately 90 minutes before and left her children alone.
Court documents show that she was charged with three counts of child neglect without great bodily harm and was released from jail on Sunday.
Early Monday, she denied the allegations, “It wasn’t true,” she told The Post. “I have proof that I wasn’t in the club.”
Heidelberg claims her Ring doorbell camera can prove she didn’t abandon her children to go to the club, as well as a few witnesses who can attest to her whereabouts.
She said, “A couple of people can state I wasn’t there.”
