Over the weekend, a California mother of five died after falling off a party bus while celebrating her 30th birthday.
Heather Garcia died shortly before 3 a.m. after falling from a party bus onto the 101 Freeway south of Alameda Street. She was struck by an oncoming 2006 Isuzu Truck.
Only two days remained until she turned 30.
According to the collision report, “Alcohol was suspected to have contributed to the collision.” At around 3:10 a.m., the California Highway Patrol closed all lanes on Alameda Street, and they reopened shortly after 7.
Garcia’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with expenses.
“What I thought would be a fun night out for her turned into a tragic ending for us,” wrote Rafael Corral, whom Garcia was raising five children, ages 1, 5, 6, 8, and 10 with. “She was a great mom always taking care of our children. She loved our kids, and she lived to take care of us.”
Corral said that he will have many expenses to contend with, as well as being both parents to their children.
