The mother of pop stars Nick and Aaron Carter has been arrested after becoming violent with her husband over the television volume.
The odd domestic dispute unfolded on Friday night at the Florida home of Jane Schneck. After a night of drinking, Jane was playing music loudly on a television in the house. Her husband, Gregory Schneck, wanted to access the remote control so he could turn the volume down and go to sleep. For whatever reason, this very simple request erupted into a violent confrontation between husband and wife. As Jane grew angrier, Gregory began recording her with his phone. Only making matters worse, Jane grabbed his wrists to make him stop and tried snatching the remote from his hand. Apparently, Gregory was so startled by the ordeal that he called 911. After reviewing the cell phone footage, Hernando County sheriff officers decided to arrest her.
The 64-year-old was booked inside the county jail and charged with battery and domestic violence. Jane posted a $100 bond and was released on Saturday. She must not have any contact with Gregory and must remain at least 500 feet away from him at all times. Her next court hearing is scheduled for May 22nd.
This is just the latest domestic violence-related drama caused by Jane. In January 2004, while going by Jane Carter, she used a rock to break into former husband Robert Carter’s home and assault his then-girlfriend, Ginger Elrod. Aside from her legal drama, a dark cloud has hung over her children as well. Aaron, the younger of the Carter brothers, was found dead in a bathtub in November 2022. An autopsy concluded he died after ingesting drugs and entering the tub. Nick has been bombarded with sexual assault allegations in recent years dating back to his glory days with the Backstreet Boys. He has denied these allegations, but his career continues to take a hit.
Jane Schneck nor Nick Carter have commented publicly on her latest arrest.
