Mo’Nique and D.L. Hughley continue to go back to back over a contract dispute tied to a comedy show that Mo’Nique says she was originally supposed to headline.
For the last few days, the two iconic comedians have been going head-to-head after Mo’Nique opened up about how she was allegedly taken advantage of in a recent business deal in which she claims she was originally confirmed to headline a comedy show. During the set, she called out D.L. Hughley, seemingly claiming he played a part in him replacing her as the comedy show’s headliner.
In their argument, both comedians have been posting receipt after receipt, showing their alleged deal arrangements. On Tuesday, Mo’Nique responded to Hughley by posting his deal memo, which was printed on March 29, 2022, and stated that Hughley would be the “closing” act of the show, among other things. Mo’Nique took to social media and posted her receipts, which included a performance deal, alleged email exchanges between Mo’Nique’s team and the comedy show, the show’s schedule and more. Mo’Nique’s performance deal was dated March 28, 2022.
“There were some of you who were fooled by the smoke and mirrors of D.L. posting his Deal Memo” versus his “Performance Agreement “. Here is my Performance Agreement and here are emails and texts confirming that as per usual I’m going to always keep it real and honest with my people. If you notice mine has signatures and D.L. does not. What type of iron clad agreement doesn’t have the signatures of the participants involved? Apparently D.L.’s. Lol!,” wrote Mo’Nique.
“Now, you told me to check with my management and this is what I came up with, so how’d did I do? Perhaps you should’ve taken your own advice, because I’m sure your team would have advised you against trying to pass a deal memo off as a contract,” she continued.
In response, Hughley maintained his stance about his “contract,” stating that he was set to be the headliner and mentioned that the promoters should be the ones to blame for the issue.
“MAAAAAN… HICK’S MEDIA INC?? HOLD UP!! THAT’S YOU!!! YOU REALLLY SHOWING EVERYONE A CONTRACT YOU SUBMITTED FROM YOUR OWN COMPANY. I SMELL BULLSHIT AND I WOULDN’T PICK IT UP WITH THE OLD ASS BIRTH CERTIFICATE PAPER IT WAS WRITTEN ON!! STOP THE [CAP]!!,” said Hughley in an Instagram post that included a video of Mo’Nique’s performance deal.
“NOW EXPLAIN TO ME HOW MY SHIT WAS DELIVERED ON AND YOURS WASN’T?? SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOUR PROBLEM IS WITH “HICKS MEDIA INC”. CAN WE PLEASE IMPLEMENT THE 3 KNOCKDOWN RULE??- Darryl Lynn Hughley,” Hughley continued.
