Mo’Nique Details Why She “Grew Out of” Open Marriage Arrangement with Husband: “Life Began To Happen”

Actress/comedian Mo’Nique has explained how she and her husband decided to reevaluate their open marriage agreement.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy Award recipient discussed her partnership with her manager and husband, Sidney Hicks. During the conversation, the 55-year-old shared that Hicks is “the best manager that I’ve ever had, and I’ve had the big boys.”

Mo’Nique further stated that she has moved beyond the idea of an open marriage, which she and Hicks have been open about in the past, including on their podcast, “Mo’Nique & Sidney’s Open Relationship.”

“Life began to happen. I began to see a strength I had never seen before,” she said. “He loved me at my worst. I didn’t want to sacrifice that just for a lay. So I grew out of that.”
