Mo’Nique claims to have a recording of Tyler Perry apologizing to her while mentioning the mistreatment of black women in the industry.
While speaking with TS Madison on her “Turnt Out With TS” show, Mo’Nique details the treatment of black women in the industry. In the clip, the comedian begins by speaking on the status of her and Tyler Perry’s relationship.
Mo’Nique reportedly claims she has a recording of Tyler admitting he was wrong. However, she says he later doubled back and changed his story.
“Then he calls back and says I will meet with Mo’Nique but not with her husband. And then she had to apologize to me and Oprah Winfrey. For saying we had anything to do with ruining her career. Now that was recent,” Mo’Nique says.
The comedian then explains how a situation like this often happens to black women in the industry, and no one speaks out.
“Often times when it comes to a Black woman speaking up and speaking out, it goes unheard until she dies. Then, once she dies, then we go back and say, ‘Well, she was right, and let’s make a movie about it,’” she continues.

The drama between Perry, Oprah, and Mo’Nique came after the comedian filed a lawsuit against Netflix. The streaming app offered Mo’Nique $500,000 to do a comedy special. Meanwhile, Amy Schumer, a white female comedian, was paid $13 million for her special.
In 2015, Mo’Nique claimed Lee Daniels told her she was blackballed because she “didn’t play the game.” However, in 2017, Mo’Nique said she wasn’t blackballed but “white-balled” while also thanking Perry, Daniels, and Winfrey.
