Montel Williams is defending Kamala Harris after an old photo of them together in Hollywood started making rounds online.
His comments comes after Joe Biden announced he’s dropping out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsing Harris.
On X, Williams stated in a now deleted tweet that there’s no big story behind the picture. He’s asking reporters to leave him alone and not to bring his daughter into the mix.
“I’ve said what I’m going to say about the thing that keeps trending. My friends in the media should think twice about wasting time on a 20+ year old picture – you will find doing so will earn an unpleasant reaction,” he wrote.
He then echoed a users tweet who insisted that social media leave Williams alone.
“This is probably good advice. Anyone want to bet on how many creepy media requests I’m going to get today?”
Williams then called out a journalist who spread lies about the photo featuring him, Kamala, and his daughter.
“As most of you know, that is my daughter to my right and I’ve asked @LauraLoomer
not to target my kids who aren’t public figures. She keeps hiding my tweet.”
Lastly, he questioned those who seemed surprised that he would support a candidate like Kamala.
“Is anyone surprised I am interested in a politician who also went to the Naval Academy and whose leadership has impressed me?”
It appears that Williams is standing firm in his support for Harris, keeping the focus on her candidacy despite the rumors.
