More Than 30 People Report Getting Sick After Visiting Splash Park In Kansas

Dozens have people reportedly got sick after going to a splash park in Wichita, Kansas.

We’re all trying to “Lil Kim” dance dodge COVID-19, Monkeypox, and now people are getting sick at water parks? NBC News reports at least 21 people contracted Shigella bacteria, and six others got sick from the Shigella bacterial virus after visiting a splash park at Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), another 36 people said they had gastrointestinal illnesses after their time at the park. However, none of them received tests to specify exactly what was causing their sickness. Four people had to go to the hospital over the illness, NBC News reports.

The information came from a report that surveyed 404 people who went to the park last year between May 28 and June 19. At least three lawsuits have been filed against the park.

Shigella, which is closely related to E. Coli, typically causes issues, including stomach cramps, fever, and sometimes diarrhea. The CDC says Shigella causes an estimated 4350,000 infections in the U.S. every year.
