More than 60 hospital workers caught COVID-19 after attending a Christmas dinner party at a restaurant.
Last weekend, 170 staff members from the regional hospital of Malaga, a city on Spain’s southern coast, went to a Christmas dinner party, and 68 of them came back with positive tests. USA Today reports that some of the staff members affected included intensive care nurses and doctors.
Before attending the event, all employees took antigen tests that all gave them negative results. All of the employees were fully vaccinated and showed no symptoms. Now authorities wonder if the dinner gathering caused the outbreak, reports Spanish private news agency Europa Press.
There are currently 248 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Spain, with 136 cases being in Malaga. The omicron variant has also reached Spain, with 10 confirmed cases.
