Morgan Freeman, legendary actor, producer and narrator, is the latest Hollywood big shot to be accused of sexual misconduct in the workplace. In fact, according to CNN, as many as eight women have come forward with allegations against the Academy Award winner, all of which were documented by the publication.
According to CNN, one of the incidents occurred throughout the summer of 2015 when a young production assistant landed a job on Freeman’s movie “Going In Style.” The woman said the actor would often touch her and comment on her figure, but in one incident, in particular, she said he “kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear.” Although he never successfully lifted her skirt, she said he kept trying until his co-star, Alan Arkin, told him to stop.
But, that wasn’t the only incident Freeman was involved in. In fact, a senior member of the production staff on “Now You See Me” in 2012 told CNN that Freeman sexually harassed her and her assistant on several occasions.
“He did comment on our bodies…We knew that if he was coming by…not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothing that [were] fitted,” she said.
However, according to CNN, that wasn’t the only incident either. In fact, out of 16 people, that discussed Freeman’s behavior in the publication’s investigation, eight said they were victims of harassment or inappropriate behavior, the other eight said they witnessed Freeman’s conduct. Although others who worked for or with the actor said they never witnessed anything of the sort, others, including a few entertainment reporters, who were victims of Freeman’s inappropriate comments.
In fact, one of whom works for CNN, said Freeman looked her up and down at a press junket for “Going In Style,” grabbed her hand and said “I wish I was there.” Chloe Melas said he also said, “You are so ripe,” as the reporter tried to interview the cast for the film. She said she reported the incident to CNN HR, who contacted Warner Bros, but Warner Bros HR refused to cooperate. After her incident, she began making calls, which birthed the investigation and uncovered years of alleged inappropriate behavior.
