Mexico Threatens to Sue Google Over “Gulf of America” Name Change

An iconic rapper and individuals involved in a murder mystery made the lists of Google’s most searched terms for 2021.

This year’s most Googled terms overall were the NBA, the late DMX, Gabby Petito and her murderer Brian Laundrie, and Black Lives Matter killer Kyle Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse also made the most-searched people list, along with golf pro Tiger Woods, actor Alec Baldwin, rapper Travis Scott, and gymnast Simone Biles.

Scott has had a rough few months since the Astroworld Festival tragedy, which has caused his name to also land on the most-searched musicians and bands list. Morgan Wallen, Adele, The Weeknd, and Dr. Dre also joined him on this list.

In Google’s top “how-to” searches, it appears people were very curious about “how to be a baddie” and “how to be more attractive.” Others desperately needed to know “how to pronounce Michael Jackson” and “how to pronounce Dogecoin.”

Google reports that users all over were also eager to put their cooking skills to the test, with the most-searched recipes being TikTok pasta, bacon jam, birria tacos, crockpot chicken, and hamantaschen.

The widely popular “Squid Game” was number one for most-searched television shows, while Kim and Kanye dominated the list of celebrities whose names were searched together.

Which one of these most popular topics did you Google in your idle time this year? You can view the full list at Google Trends.
