Mother Accused of Trying To Smother Her Newborn That She Considered “Evil”

A Las Vegas woman was arrested on Wednesday after she allegedly tried to smother her “evil” newborn while on the way to the hospital.

Ashley Hollingsworth now faces one charge of attempted murder and child abuse, the Las Vegas police confirmed.

The 22-year-old delivered the baby at home on Saturday and was headed to MountainView Hospital when she wrapped a blanket around the newborn baby’s head.

She allegedly compressed the blanket against the infant’s nose and face. When she got to the hospital, the mother refused to enter the emergency room because she was “bleeding profusely.”

She then fled from the area but was found about two hours later with injuries to her head, the New York Post reported. She told police she was “beat up by a rock.”

Hollingsworth’s mugshot was taken, and her injuries are obvious–hence her two large black eyes.

Authorities say she had “something evil” in her stomach and was trying to kill it.

The baby’s father went with Hollingsworth to get the baby treatment.

Luckily the baby didn’t sustain injuries from the incident.

Hollingsworth is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
