Authorities are searching for two male suspects who kidnapped a mother and her baby in broad daylight.
On Wednesday, a mother and her 1-year-old son were loading groceries into their vehicle at a Target in Memphis when they were approached by two men “armed with a handgun.” Police said the men forced the woman and her son into a car and drove to a nearby bank.
“Officers responded to 7989 Highway 64 at Target,” The Memphis Police Department said in a statement released online. “Officers were advised that the victim and her one-year-old child were putting groceries into their vehicle when two males approached them armed with a handgun. The males forced the victim and the child into the suspect’s vehicle.”
The suspects drove about two minutes away to the Regions Bank and forced the woman to withdraw $800 from the ATM. After obtaining the money, the mother and son were dropped off at the same Target they were abducted from.
However, the Memphis Police Department did not say where the victims were released or how long the victims were held captive. Officials obtained surveillance footage that showed the men walking around a Walmart store before the incident. The video also showed the two driving the exact goldish-tan vehicle.
Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident. Memphis police say no arrests have been made yet, but there’s a $2,000 cash reward if anyone has information on the suspect’s whereabouts.
