Georgia Mother Arrested For Killing Her Child, Leaving Other Child In Apartment Before Setting Complex On Fire Day Before Thanksgiving

Atlanta authorities say a 27-year-old mother is behind an apartment fire that left residents homeless.

Nicole Jackson confessed to killing her 4-year-old daughter and leaving her other daughter in her apartment before starting a catastrophic fire on Nov. 23, a source told Fox 5 Atlanta.

The East Point Police Department confirmed one of her children died and another was injured in the fire. Both the East Point Fire Department and East Point Police Department investigated the incident.

The fire was set at Polaris East Point Apartments, an eight-unit complex near Washington Road. It spread to multiple units and forced residents to evacuate.

Officials discovered the body of a 4-year-old girl in an upper apartment and a second young girl was transported to the hospital with fire-related injuries.

Officials say the building is a complete loss, and residents were left homeless before the holiday.

Nicole Jackson was arrested on Thanksgiving Day.
