Mother Of Four Fatally Shot In Maryland Convenience Store Robbery

A mother of four is dead after being fatally shot during a robbery while she was working in a convenience store.

Lynn Maher, 49, was working at a 7-Eleven early Thursday in Walford, Maryland when a man came in the store at about 1 a.m. with a gun and demanded money, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

After Maher handed over the money, the unidentified man shot her and fled. She died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

Maher’s husband, Travis, posted a heartfelt post announcing his wife’s death on Facebook.

“Last night between 1230-100 a.m., October 1st, a robber took my wife, mother, grand mother, sister, Lynn Marie Maher from us. Anyone that knew Lynn knew she loved life, teaching Tae Kwon Do, and being there for her family and friends,” her husband wrote. “She was held up at gunpoint last night, gave the robber everything she could on witness accounts, and had nothing else to give in this persons eyes other than her valued and loved life.”

Lyn Maher and her husband were high school sweethearts. After initially going their separate ways, they rekindled their romance in Iowa and moved back to Maryland about 10 years ago, NBC Washington reports.

“There’s so much pain there. It’s a senseless, senseless, tragic killing,” Maher’s brother-in-law said to the publication.

Outside of work and family, Maher was a blackbelt in taekwondo, which she loved teaching to children.

“She loved teaching the kids,” her brother-in-law said. “That was her calling. She just wanted to help the children, help other kids, especially underprivileged kids.”

The suspect is described as a black male, between 5’7” and 5’10” with a slender build, according to the sheriff’s office. He was wearing a white surgical mask, dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and dark sneakers.

Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 and 7-Eleven is offering a reward up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
