Houston Police issued an arrest warrant for a Texas mother and teacher who allegedly put her son, who had tested positive for Covid 19, in the trunk of her car to try and avoid exposing herself to the coronavirus.
Police charged Sarah Beam with endangering a child after they said her 13-year-old son was found face down inside the trunk of her car at a COVID-19 testing site in Houston.
The 41-year-old woman, who works as an educator at a nearby high school, told a health official that the boy was in the truck after testing positive and that she wanted to “prevent her from getting exposed to possible COVID.”
Before calling the police, the health official told Beam she would not be tested until the child was removed from the trunk and placed inside the vehicle. Nearby surveillance video showed the moment Beam’s son got out of the trunk and moved into the backseat.
