Just two days ago, we noted that according to Page Six, Chris Noth would not reprise his role of John “Mr. Big” Preston on HBO Max’s Sex and the City reboot. A day later, Noth weighed in on the rumors.
“Everything changes — including announcements in the rags,” Noth coyly wrote on Instagram in response to a follower asking why he would not be returning as Mr. Big.
In response to another comment asking him not to make us sad and letting him know that Carrie needs him, he wrote, “Well, if Page Six says it … it must be true 😉.”
Page Six reported that aside from Noth, David Eigenberg, who played Miranda’s husband, Steve Brady, would not return. It was previously announced that Kim Cattrall would be the only original lead not to return. There are no plans to replace her character, Samantha Jones.
The 10-episode revival will not share the same name as the original series. Instead, it is titled And Just Like That. The show will follow Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker; Miranda Hobbes, played by Cynthia Nixon; and Charlotte York, played by Kristin Davis, as they navigate their 50s.
The original series ran on HBO from 1998 to 2004. The series was followed by two films in 2008 and 2010 that featured all four leading characters and saw Noth and Eigenberg reprising their roles as Big and Steve, respectively.
