MS-13 Associate Charged With Murder Of 17-Year-Old Victim After Throwing Up Gang Signs Over Dead Body

Federal agents have charged an accused MS-13 gang member with murder for the 2018 killing of a 17-year-old boy murdered in a Queens park.

According to New York Daily News, Oscar Flores-Mejia, 21, was arrested in February for the murder of Andy Peralta.

Authorities believe members of MS-13 killed the victim after mistaken him as a member of the 18th Street Gang. The killers thought the victim’s crown tattoo was a sign he was affiliated with its rival gang.

Agents arrested Flores-Mejia after they found pictures of him flashing MS-13 gang signs while standing over the victim’s bloody body, prosecutors stated.

Peralta was beaten, choked, and stabbed repeatedly, the outlet reported.
Juan Amaya-Ramirez, 22, another known gang member, was also arrested and charged in connection with Peralta’s death.

Authorities say the victim was lured to Kissena Park in Queens by a woman. Two suspects and a third person were waiting to jump him.

Police received numerous calls to report screams coming from the park. The victim’s body was found lying facedown in a puddle in the park the next morning.

The identity of the third person involved in the brutal killing has not been released.

“I cannot imagine what happened,” Peralta’s mother told the Daily News days after her son’s killing. “My boy, my beautiful boy. I don’t have words.”

Amaya-Ramirez and Flores-Mejia have been charged with murder in-aid-of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder in-aid-of racketeering. They face mandatory terms of life in prison if found guilty.
