After a drunken night out with his friends, Rino Dubokovic, a university student in Zagreb, came up with the idea for the Museum of Hangovers after sharing funny hangover stories amongst his friend group.
According to CNN Travel, the idea came to him suddenly: “Some sort of collection where all these objects from drunk stories would be exposed together with their stories.”
Fast forward six months later, and the hilarious idea has come to fruition.
There are many exhibits in the museum that include displays of strange objects people found the morning after a night out that consisted of one too many drinks, a room where guests can put on “beer goggles” in an attempt to test their reflexes, and there are even interactive sections that allow guests to share their own alluring hangover experiences.
The museum also contains a gift shop that sells a “drunkopoly” board game as well as bar activities such as darts, for example.
Speaking with CNN Travel, Dubokovic said, “In the future, we want to make people aware of the bad things related to alcohol.”
Dubokovic insisted that the point of the museum isn’t to glorify overindulgence, but instead, the goal is to be a physical representation of the conversations he’s had with his friends where everyone shares stories about their past experiences.
The museum has been open since Dec 1. and, according to Dubokovic, is still a “test concept.” Reactions for the museum have so far been positive. Dubokovic hopes to receive additional funding in hopes of turning the Museum of Hangovers into an even bigger and permanent establishment.
Dubokovic would also like to include a menu from a food delivery app for the Museum of Hangovers because everyone orders food during his hangovers.
“I order pizza when I’m hungover because I am too lazy to do anything,” he said.
