A man is dead following a shooting that took place in Santa Monica.
The Santa Monica Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the 2600 block of 29th Street just before 10:30 a.m.
On arrival, officers discovered the victim in his car. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.
He was later identified as 46-year-old Edward Williams III, Fox LA reported. Those who knew him say he is the father of two young boys and worked in the music industry. He had a small recording studio in Hollywood, rogue.black studios, and had done work with artists like Travis Scott and Lil Cobaine.
A day after the shooting, authorities announced that the alleged shooter was Kayla Mackey, 27, and homeless. She was taken into custody in connection to the music producer’s death, police said Friday.
Witnesses say they saw him wearing his headphones while sitting in the car at the time of the shooting.Â
The motive for the shooting remains unknown.Â
