One of the most dominant defensive players in the league has a hell of a lot of business acumen. Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has purchased a minority stake in the NBA team Cleveland Cavaliers. He will also serve as an ambassador for the team.
Garrett, a former Texas A&M Aggie, showcased his basketball skills during the 2022 summer league as a player for the Cavs. Additionally, he participated in the celebrity basketball game during the 2022 All-Star event in Cleveland.
Cavs owner David Gilbert is excited to have Garrett as part of the family. “As a leader on and off the field, Myles has become a Cleveland icon and shares in our organization’s commitment to being a transformative force for good across the region,” Gilbert said in a press release.
“We are honored to welcome this long-time friend of the team as our new partner and investor. Myles’ passion and commitment to the city he loves will allow us to reach new communities and continue to build the successful future of this franchise.”
The best player on the football team owns a piece of the basketball team; could we see this become a trend throughout the next few years as the salary caps continue to grow?
