Mystikal is requesting a gag order in his ongoing rape case to protect his privacy.
According to court documents, Mystikal’s new defense attorney, Tiffany Myles Crosby, has filed a petition for a gag order in his rape and false imprisonment case due to excessive media coverage.
If granted, the gag order would prevent lawyers from both parties from discussing the ongoing case with “any person or entity,” including media outlets such as radio, television, or newspapers. Additionally, the gag order would extend to “all possible witnesses and law enforcement personnel who are scheduled to testify at the trial or possess any knowledge” regarding the case.
The New Orleans rapper is facing a potential life sentence after being indicted on a first-degree rape charge that relates to an alleged incident that occurred in 2022.
The woman, who remains anonymous, stated that the occurrence transpired at Mystikal’s Prairieville residence on July 30th after he accused her of stealing $100. She claimed that he became extremely furious, physically assaulted her, yanked out her braids, took her keys and mobile phone, and prevented her from departing his property.
A few months later, the ex-No Limit rapper was charged by a grand jury with rape, in addition to nine other criminal charges. He is currently behind bars at Ascension Parish Prison and has since pleaded not guilty to the charges. The 52-year-old is expected to reappear in court on March 20th.
