North Carolina Democratic leaders are calling on Nancy Pelosi to launch an investigation and the possible expulsion of a freshman Republican congressman for his allegedly “seditious behavior” in helping to aide the rioters who incited the “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.
According to Fox News, Rep. Madison Cawthorn, North Carolina Democrats from Cawthorn’s 11th District, wrote a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi asking for an investigation into the congressman.
The Democrats claim there was an ethics violation for “violent language” on his Twitter feed leading up to the riots at the Capitol.
A letter published in The Mountaineer called for an investigation, saying,” Mr. Cawthorn needs to be held accountable for his seditious behavior and for consequences resulting from said behavior,” the letter stated. “We will not tolerate misinformation, conspiracy theories, and lies from our Representatives.”
The letter was signed by the 11th District Democratic Party Chair Kathy Sinclair, along with four other democratic party officials who asked that if the two-thirds vote needed for his expulsion could not be met, that Speaker Pelosi censure Cawthorn instead.
