Nardo Wick is speaking out to clarify his viral statements about committing robberies before getting his big break in music.
Earlier this week, the “Who Want Smoke” star sat down with Baby Jade, Big Bank, and Dj Scream for the “Big Facts Podcast” to discuss his life before his rise to fame. During that discussion, the 19-year-old revealed that he has never worked a 9 to 5 job. Instead, he says robbing was his choice of occupation, noting that the financial gain was too good to pass up.
“I would just look at it like I would go rob a n—- and get this much, why would I go to work. But you got to think, for real though, if I go do this to somebody and get $7,000 or $5,000, why I’m finna go to work for two weeks and make $500, hell nah,” Nardo revealed.
As expected, his revelation caused quite the stir on social media, with many outraged that the rapper would admit such a thing on a public platform. Following the backlash, he addressed fans in a well-thought-out explanation, where he did not glorify his actions but explained that due to his circumstances, they were necessary.
“I’m not tryna influence nobody to go rob nobody, they asked a question about MY PAST and I answered it,” Nardo wrote in the lengthy statement. He explained that at the time, he was only 15 or 16 years old and had to provide for his family when his mother was newly released from prison.
“I would never tell or try to convince a young Black man or anyone period to crash out! I changed my life and started taking rapping serious because I knew that I wouldn’t make it if I kept doing what I was doin,” he added.
