Man Ends Up Dead After Failed YouTube Prank in Nashville

A man was fatally shot in Nashville on Friday after a failed robbery “prank” for a YouTube channel.

According to NBC News, 20-year-old Timothy Wilkes and a friend approached a group of people in the parking lot of Urban Air with butcher knives. David Starnes Jr., a member of the approached group, told police he was unaware of the prank and shot Wilkes in defense for not only himself but for the others he was with.

No charges have been brought against Starnes, 23, as of now since the district attorney has to contemplate whether or not the shooting was justified, Legal analyst Nick Leonardo told Channel 5 Nashville. “It is legal to use deadly force to protect yourself or a third party from serious bodily injury or imminent death, so it’s very important that they consider that…”

Leonardo also informed the news outlet that this is not the first time a prank has gone wrong.
