The oldest daughter of the late Kobe Bryant has asked a judge to grant her a restraining order against a man she says has released repeatedly tried to make unwanted contact with her.
Natalia Bryant, 19, who attends the University of Southern California, filed for a civil harassment restraining order on Monday against Dwayne Cortez Toliver Kemp, 32, of Sun Valley, California.
The restraining order requested that the alleged stalker be ordered to stay at least 200 yards away from Bryant, her home, her workplace, her school, her vehicle, and her sorority house, as well as the USC campus.
Kemp is accused of harassing Bryant on social media when she was just 17. Starting in 2020, he began messaging Bryant on social media as if they had romantic ties or seemed as if he wanted to start a romantic relationship, according to the court filing.
Bryant has never met him but became fearful after he sent kissing faces and hearts and threatened to make unwanted in-person contact with her, it continued.
He is also described as an online gun enthusiast.
The next year, the alleged stalker sent Bryant a DM with a picture of her father, Kobe Bryant, and a message alluding to his hope that he and Bryant could have a Kobe-like child together, NBC News reported.
“Thankful For Him Birthing You, Hopefully WeCan Birth Him… ‘Kobe,’” Kemp wrote.
Kemp’s actions have escalated since 2020. He has even shown up on the campus of Bryant’s university twice.
Members of the USC faculty, USC Department of Public Safety and Bryant’s fellow sorority members have witnessed Kemp’s actions.
Since that Nov. 2 attempt to make physical contact with Bryant, Kemp has made disturbing posts about guns, including an Instagram post saying he wanted to purchase a “Glock Switch” immediately. It is illegal to possess a Glockswitch under federal law because it’s a device that allows a semi-automatic Glock Pistol to function as a fully automatic firearm.
The filing is supported by USC campus police and the Los Angeles Police Department, and went on to say Kemp’s behavior has caused Bryant “substantial emotional distress.”
