Nate Burleson Tells NFL Fans to Appreciate the Kansas City Chiefs' Dominance After AFC Championship Win

Another NFL season, another AFC Championship for the Kansas City Chiefs. They secured their fifth AFC Championship in eight years Sunday, defeating the Buffalo Bills 32-29. This marks the fourth time the Chiefs have beaten the Bills in the postseason since quarterback Patrick Mahomes entered the NFL seven seasons ago. Mahomes excelled once again, using both his arm and his legs, passing for 245 yards, rushing for 43 yards, and accounting for three touchdowns.

On the game-winning drive that set up kicker Harrison Butker’s go-ahead field goal, Mahomes led his team down the field with four completed passes. But are we surprised? At just 29 years old, he is now one win away from achieving the first three-peat in NFL history. If he succeeds, he will cement his legacy with the potential for another four years of dominance at this level. Although Kansas City had a season filled with close wins, many thought this year might be the one where they fell short of the Super Bowl.

It didn’t happen. Fans may be frustrated to see a rematch of the 2022 Super Bowl, but both teams found a way to earn their spot on the biggest stage. CBS analyst and former NFL player Nate Burleson reminded fans to appreciate the greatness they are witnessing.

“Let me say this to the fan bases out there: if you’re not a Chiefs fan, that’s okay,” Burleson said. “But resist the urge to fall for the narrative that we’re tired of seeing (the Chiefs) win, that we might be fatigued of watching KC go to the Super Bowl over and over again. You are witnessing greatness, and just be happy that you are alive to see it.”
