The resolution of Nate Dogg‘s estate is now complete, ensuring that the substantial sum will be distributed among the late legend’s widow and children.
According to court documents, Nate’s estate has been assessed with a final value of $2.7 million. The estate administrator has been instructed by the probate judge to distribute the funds equally among Nate’s widow, LaToya Calvin, and his nine children. It was discovered during the legal proceedings that Nate, initially thought to have six children, was legally recognized as the father of three more.
Additionally, the estate administrator has verified that all of Nate’s financial obligations have been settled. This includes the clearance of outstanding debts, notably a $144,000 IRS bill. With this resolution, there are no remaining obligations for the surviving family members to fulfill, bringing an end to the contentious legal battle over the late legend’s estate.
Upon Nate’s demise in 2011, he passed away without a will, rendering him intestate. Consequently, there were no specific provisions for the children he fathered with different women. LaToya Calvin, who was Nate’s wife at the time of his death, took on the role of executor by nominating herself. Since then, a legal dispute has ensued between Calvin and Nate’s children, who contend that the late singer intended to divorce Calvin before his demise.
The children presented evidence to support their claim, revealing that Nate had initiated divorce proceedings just 19 days prior to his death. However, as the divorce was not finalized, Calvin was legally recognized as Nate’s wife, entitling her to beneficiary status in the estate, leading to the ongoing courtroom battle.
