Today is National Stress Awareness Day, offering a timely reminder to pause and prioritize self-care after the intensity of the 2024 election season. With the recent election of Donald Trump as President of the United States, emotions remain heightened, and stress levels are noticeable.

National Stress Awareness Day emphasizes acknowledging stress while encouraging practices that support well-being and resilience during challenging times.

Politics aside, we all deserve a little relief. So here are some quick, simple ways to bring a bit of calm into your day:

1. Limit the Scrolling

Social media’s full of election talk, and it can get stressful fast. Give yourself a break. Set a timer if you need to. Just a quick pause from scrolling can help a lot.

2. Go Outside, Get Moving, Stay Active

Getting fresh air is underrated! Step outside, stretch your legs, and breathe. It’s a simple way to ground yourself and let go of some tension.

3. Talk to People Who Get You

Whether it’s friends, family, or that one person who always makes you laugh– reach out. A chat with people who understand you can bring a sense of balance.

4. Set Goals for Yourself

It’s tempting to sit and think about what’s next, especially with big changes ahead. But focusing on what you can control, like personal goals or projects, can be a big stress release.

5. Breathe

Sometimes, the simplest things work the best. Take a few deep breaths. Slow breathing helps calm the mind and body, which is exactly what we all need after all the craziness this election has brought us.

Today is about acknowledging stress and figuring out ways to manage it. Just remember to take some time for you!
