NBA YoungBoy is currently home on house arrest while awaiting his upcoming trial for gun charges, so naturally, he could not attend an album release party. His team worked hard to put together an option where the rapper could be there virtually, but he never joined the live stream.
TMZ reports that Elevate Lounge in Los Angeles hosted friends and fans on Thursday night in anticipation of Don’t Try This At Home releasing at midnight. At that point, YoungBoy was supposed to join a live stream. The album dropped on time, but YoungBoy failed to join.
Sources told the outlet that the “Outside Today” rapper fell asleep, something his team denies. His team told TMZ in a statement that “technical difficulties” prevented YoungBoy from joining the live stream.
“There was a technical difficulty, and they couldn’t get NBA YoungBoy on the live stream,” they said. “They tried Zoom and FaceTime without any success, and unfortunately, NBA YoungBoy was unable to connect with his friends and fans.”
Either way, his 33-track album Don’t Try This At Home is out now. It features guest appearances from big names like Nicki Minaj, Kid Laroi, and Post Malone. According to Hits Daily Double, the project is expected to move between 60,000 and 65,000 units its first week and could debut in the top 5 on the charts.
