NBA YoungBoy is asking the court to modify his house arrest conditions, citing a decline in mental health after nearly two years of confinement at his Utah residence.

According to AllHipHop, the rapper has been on 24/7 house arrest since October 2021, and it has seriously impacted his music career and personal well-being.

It all stemmed from 2020 firearm and drug charges in Los Angeles, with strict bail conditions significantly limiting his movements.

Since then, his defense claims he’s followed pre-trial conditions, especially after being acquitted of California charges in July 2022.

The request to change his house arrest terms comes after over a year of compliance, aiming to ease limitations affecting his mental health and career.

The rapper’s current house arrest terms permit limited leave from home, hindering his music recording, video shoots, and public appearances—essential aspects of his career as a recording artist.

According to his lawyer, James P. Manasseh, YB “being confined to his home and unable to complete his employment obligations has led to great anxiety, depression, loss of weight, and sleep. [NBA YoungBoy] has been visibly stressed and has expressed concern and loss of hope that he will be able to return to his contracted employment obligation.”

YoungBoy’s legal team is open to negotiating specific terms for GPS monitoring and limited movement but hasn’t reached an agreement as the government has declined the proposal.
