A North Carolina woman has been diagnosed with coronavirus despite staying home for the past three weeks.
“This is the sickest I’ve ever been, and it’s the most scared I’ve ever been,” the woman said, adding, “I’m absolutely terrified.”
According to the New York Post, Rachel Brummert, who suffers from an autoimmune disorder, said she last left her house mid-March to take a trip to the pharmacy. But, as the coronavirus continued to spread, Brummert stayed confined in her Charlotte home.
In fact, taking her precautionary measures a step further, Brummert even distanced herself from her husband, who is currently living in a separate room.
But, sometime during her self-quarantine, Brummert came in indirect contact with a woman who has since tested positive for the virus, by way of a grocery delivery.
According to the publication, Brummert said she retrieved her groceries from her doorstep without gloves, and as of last Thursday, she’s been diagnosed with coronavirus.
“I really thought I was doing everything right,” Brummert said. “I’ve never had anything like this before. I’ve had the flu. This is not the flu. It’s a whole other monster.”
