University of Southern California Athletic Director Pat Haden has taken matters into his own hands. Haden fired USC head football coach Lane Kiffin after a bad start this college football season. USC has experienced it’s 7th loss in 11 games and the friction between Kiffin and the college football team was obvious.
According to Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News, this is how the firing process went: Kiffin was pulled off of team bus and fired in the LAX parking lot. The team went back to USC without him. A.D. Pat Haden and three administrators met in a small room during the 3rd quarter of the Arizona State Sun Devils game to discuss his firing. USC lost to Arizona State 62-41 and Kiffin was fired after the game.
The athletic department made its decision to fire Kiffin before the game was over so why did they allow him to get on the team bus? This is embarrassing but it shows you that no one’s job is safe. USC is already dealing with scholarship limitation from their previous NCAA infractions and now the team has to transition from this. The interim coach for the college football team is Ed Orgeron. We shall see if the Trojan’s energy changes on the football field now that Kiffin has been let go!
