Ne-Yo Confirms Split From Wife, Says “That’s The End Of That Chapter, Not The End Of The Book”

Just one week after news surfaced of Ne-Yo’s split from his wife of three years, the “So Sick” singer has officially confirmed that the two are heading for divorce.

Ne-Yo confirmed the news over the weekend in an episode of the “Private Talk With Alexis Texas” podcast.

“It’s slowly but surely becoming public knowledge that myself and my wife have decided to go ahead and get a divorce,” the singer said of his relationship with wife and mother of two of his children, Crystal Smith. “It’s not a sad thing; it’s more of us realizing-long story short, I’m never gonna talk bad about her. I’m not that person. There’s nothing bad to say about her. She’s a fantastic woman. She’s the mother of my children, and she’s always gonna be that, and I will always respect her.”

Earlier this week, Crystal echoed a similar sentiment in a statement to Baller Alert, saying, “the accuracy is that he’s an amazing father and our kids are blessed to have a father like him. I wouldn’t take that back for anything in this world.”

But when it comes to the former couple’s relationship, it’s over for good, as the two have realized they each have personal issues that make their marriage difficult.

“Long story short, she’s got demons just like everybody else, just like me,” Ne-Yo explained on the podcast. “We realize that our demons don’t mesh and until both of us get a hold of our personal demons, it’s gonna be just difficult to stay married. With that being said, that’s that, that’s the end of that chapter, not the end of the book. Like I said, that’s the mother of my kids, and I love her to death. We’re going to be family forever.”

The two married in February 2016 and share two children together.
