Nelly sat down with 94.5 PST, where he revealed that he was slated to be on the remix to Lil Nas X’s hit single, “Rodeo.”
When host Kayla Thomas (@kaylathomas40) asked Nelly if he would collaborate with Lil Nas X, the “My Place” star said, “I actually did a remix for one of Lil Nas X song’s that I guess my man didn’t use.” He later confirmed that the track was “Rodeo,” which featured Cardi B. The single has now been certified platinum by the RIAA.
“I guess Nelly didn’t make the cut,” the rapper laughed, seemingly unaware of why the remix was scrapped.
Elsewhere in the interview, Nelly gave his take on the Grammy’s backlash. He explained that while the award ceremony is still credible, they fail to keep up with current trends. In the past, he has criticized the award ceremony for failing to nominate him for Best New Artist following the release of his 2000 chart-topping debut album, “Country Grammar,” which was certified diamond by the RIAA.
