Nene Leakes is speaking out about her son Brentt‘s health after it was reported that he suffered a heart attack and stroke.
The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star took to Instagram Monday to give an update on Brentt and confirmed the 23-year-old suffered congestive heart failure and a stroke two weeks ago today.
Because of his age, Leakes says doctors initially thought it could have been drugs or some serious infection like HIV. However, all of that was ruled out following various tests. She also noted that Brentt doesn’t drink or do drugs.
Doctors also thought Brentt may have once had Covid and just didn’t know, something they’ve seen in patients who have caught the Delta variant.
Leakes calls the situation “very scary” and says doctors are still trying to determine the cause.
The reality star says doctors have also ruled out Brentt’s weight and are trying to determine if he was born with some sort of disease that hadn’t shown up until now.
She says Brentt is in good spirits and has shown signs of improvement however, he currently struggling with speaking due to the stroke.
As far as The Linneathia Lounge that Brentt ran, it’s currently still open at regular hours. However, Leakes has been speaking about possibly putting it up for sale.
Nene opened the lounge in 2021 with her son Brentt after the passing of her husband Gregg.
