If you purchase the ad-supported subscription on Netflix, you won’t be able to see all of the platform’s content.
Third-party films and shows may not be available to those who opt to buy Netflix’s upcoming ad-supported subscription tier, says Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos. However, you will certainly be able to watch Netflix Originals, reports Hypebeast.
The news comes just as the streaming platform announced it would be working with Microsoft, which will provide Netflix ads.
“Today, the vast majority of what people watch on Netflix, we can include in the ad-supported tier,” Sarandos. “There’s some things that don’t and we’re in conversations with the studios on, but if we launched the product today, members in the ad-tier would have a great experience. We will clear some additional content but certainly not all of it but don’t think it’s a material holdback for the business.”
This may not go well, as Netflix just reported that the company lost a whopping one million subscribers in the last three months.
